Fifty nifty United States from thirteen original colonies....

Y'all remember that song? I've had it in my head all week. I learned it in the 5th grade and still remember every single word.

If you want to revisit childhood memories or have never heard of the song, I found it on youtube! Ha!


Sorry this is another two weeks into one entry. We had a nasty stomach virus a couple of weeks ago, followed by strep, so we did enough school to keep us on track and saved projects for this week.

This week we began our study on each state, as it entered the Union. So we learned about Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Georgia.

In honor of Pennsylvania, the children made a model of the Liberty Bell and for Georgia, peach cobbler. The cobbler was incredibly simple with an oat and spelt crust.

We're off school this upcoming week, for Thanksgiving. We're going to read a couple of books on the topic though and may even take a trip to Alabama, depending on how things pan out.
