My Sweet Laundry Maid

This blog is from the vault and being edited to fit 2012. :)

I wrote this after having surgery back in 2008 and unable to do my usual routine around the house.

Thankfully, my 5 year-old saved the day! I posted evidence that a 5 year old really could handle laundry.
-----------------------------------
You didn't think a 5 year old could do laundry? Well, my sweet eldest not only knows how to load the washer, she even knows how to use the detergent, load the dryer, sort and hang.

And if you don't believe me, here are a few pictures of my precious little helper!

Opening the dryer and getting ready to unload clothes into the basket.

Unloading Clothes into the basket.

Those are some BIG towels for such a little girl, but Morgan knows how to tackle such a feat.

Ta-Da!

Carrying the clothes to be sorted.

Preparing the clothes for hangers.

Hanging one of her brother's shirts.

What a great job! It's all good!

What Punctuation Mark are You?

Ginger tagged me and as it turns out I am a colon! Some of the things stated I can identify with, while others I'm just not so sure about.

Now go take the quiz for yourself and report back with what you are!

You Are a Colon

You are very orderly and fact driven.

You aren't concerned much with theories or dreams... only what's true or untrue.

You are brilliant and incredibly learned. Anything you know is well researched.

You like to make lists and sort through things step by step. You aren't subject to whim or emotions.

Your friends see you as a constant source of knowledge and advice.

(But they are a little sick of you being right all of the time!)

You excel in: Leadership positions

You get along best with: The Semi-Colon

Which Books Interest You?

Because my book list is growing and growing in the list below, I've been asked if I can start highlighting one book a week. Because I'm unsure as to each person's interest (homeschooling, adoption, developmental delays/ special needs, family life, etc.), I'd like to hear from y'all.

Let me know which ones you find particularly interesting and I'll start to write up my thoughts/reviews/etc. on a title each week.

If you're a family member or friend, please e-mail us at the usual address.

If you're a visitor, please e-mail elenajmorgan@yahoo.com If the link doesn't work, feel free to copy and paste into your e-mail's To: line.

Thanks :)

Who are Sam and Carie?

Y'all have heard me talk about them TONS and I'm sure you've heard my kiddos talk about them lots as well! In fact, I couldn't drag Morgan away from PaPa and Grandma's house without dangling a visit to Ms. Carie's house in front of her. Below there's a picture of this sweet couple at Jared's birthday party. (They're the cute, smiling couple with the adorable little baby boy).

Well, our local paper wrote an article on this cool family and I just HAD to post it! Please feel free to visit by clicking Means Family Article . There's even a picture of the whole family!!!

And yes, the link to "Carie's Page" in my Favorite Sites section will send you directly to Ms. Carie's webpage. If you've ever wondered what it was like to be a military wife, doula, student midwife, a homeschooling mom, and the mother of five very cute children, be sure to visit by clicking on the link below.

Raising Maidens of Virtue

Here's a new book I've just come across and have had a chance to read from time to time. So far, I'm really liking it and I have a feeling will be on my recommendation list soon. To take a look and read up on this book, Raising Maidens of Virtue by Stacy McDonald click here

Stacy McDonald is also the co-author of Passionate Housewives Desperate for God which has already been added to my favorites list. It can be tough living as a "Housewife" these days and I found this book very encouraging! Even my friends who aren't housewives found this book encouraging them in their roles as wives and mothers.

Happy Birthday, Jared!

Here are some pictures from Jared's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. I'm very sorry that these haven't been posted yet--I know many of you keep asking for them. I'm finally feeling well enough to get up and around more, so thought I'd take this opportunity to post them and then I'm headed back to bed. :)

Valentine's Day, 2004

I was well into a 36 hour labor (actual labor time was 35 hours and 55 minutes--my OCD ensures that this is an accurate time. :))

I had my first contraction at 7:00pm on the dot on Friday, February 13th while watching Omarosa on a taped The Apprentice. I knew that I would have a Valentine Baby, but so wanted him to have his very own special day.

Since it was my 2nd baby, they said I would only go for about 8 hours, max (Ha. Ha. Ha). I was up all night on the 13th, all day on the 14th, and finally Jared came out at 6:55am on the 15th.

I was just thinking that if I was using my former OB for my surgery tomorrow, I would be with the same people and in the same hospital I was in with Jared 4 years ago tomorrow.

And we didn't do anything really that V-day as that was also my first non-medicated birth, so I was at home, sitting on a labor ball and walking around my neighborhood with my good friend Doula Kay, trying to keep the labor progressing. Well, I guess preparing to birth a baby is sorta romantic. :)

It's hard to believe my one and only little prince will officially be 4 tomorrow.
